After breakfast, embark on a full-day excursion to Naigu Stone Forest and Jiuxiang Scenic Area, two of Yunnan’s most spectacular natural attractions.
Begin the day with a visit to Naigu Stone Forest, located in the greater Stone Forest region. The name “Naigu” means “black” in the local Yi language, referring to the darker-coloured limestone formations that characterise this section of the Stone Forest.
Naigu Stone Forest is renowned for its extraordinary karst landscape, where towering limestone pillars, cliffs, peaks and natural formations rise dramatically from the ground. The unusual shapes and rugged landscape create an almost otherworldly atmosphere, making the area one of the most impressive geological attractions in Yunnan.
Unlike a man-made attraction, the Stone Forest is a remarkable natural geological formation created over hundreds of millions of years. Geologists believe that the landscape developed through a long process involving sedimentation, compression, geological uplift, weathering and erosion. Over approximately 270 million years, these natural forces gradually sculpted the limestone into the dramatic formations seen today.
As you explore the scenic area, walk through the maze of stone formations and admire the constantly changing shapes created by nature. Some formations resemble animals, people and mythical figures, while narrow passages and towering stone walls create an impressive natural landscape.

After breakfast, visit West Hill (Xishan), one of Kunming’s most scenic natural attractions. Located on the western shore of Dianchi Lake, West Hill is a beautiful forested mountain area known for its spectacular landscapes, historic temples and panoramic views.
West Hill is often referred to as the “Sleeping Buddha Hills” because the mountain range resembles a giant Buddha lying peacefully beside Dianchi Lake when viewed from a distance. It is also affectionately known as the “Sleeping Beauty Hills.” According to local legend and popular description, the outline of the mountains resembles a beautiful young woman lying beside the lake, with her face turned upward and her long hair flowing into the water. From the right viewpoint, the contours of her face, chest and legs can be clearly distinguished.
The area is home to several important cultural and religious sites, including Huating Temple, Taihua Temple, Sanqing Pavilion and Dragon Gate. Continue to Dragon Gate (Longmen), the most famous attraction on West Hill. Built into the steep cliffs overlooking Dianchi Lake, Dragon Gate is a remarkable complex of stone carvings, grottoes, pathways, pavilions and sculptures. The cliffside structures were painstakingly carved into the rock, creating a unique combination of natural scenery and ancient craftsmanship.
Continue your journey to Dounan Flower Market, one of Kunming’s most colourful and lively attractions. Kunming is often known as the “City of Eternal Spring”, and its mild climate makes the region one of China’s major flower-growing centres.
Dounan has developed into one of the largest flower trading centres in Asia and an important flower distribution hub in China. The market is especially famous for its huge selection of fresh-cut flowers, including roses, lilies, carnations, chrysanthemums, orchids and many other seasonal varieties.
In the evening, enjoy the spectacular Yunnan Impression song and dance performance.
The show combines traditional music, colourful costumes, ethnic dances and stage performances inspired by the diverse cultures of Yunnan. Through music and dance, the performance introduces the traditions, customs and artistic heritage of the region’s different ethnic communities. The colourful costumes, dynamic choreography and atmospheric stage production create an entertaining cultural experience and provide a wonderful introduction to the unique character of Yunnan.
After the performance, return to the hotel for a relaxing evening.

The main Qianxun Pagoda originally stood approximately 69 metres high with 16 storeys, while the two smaller octagonal pagodas each have 10 storeys and stand approximately 42 metres high. The Three Pagodas were constructed to promote Buddhism and, according to local beliefs, were also believed to protect the surrounding area from floods and other natural forces. Following their construction, Chongsheng Temple was established and expanded over the centuries, reaching its peak during the Song Dynasty. Today, the Three Pagodas remain an impressive testament to Dali’s ancient history, Buddhist culture and architectural heritage, beautifully set against the backdrop of the Cangshan Mountains.
After sightseeing, transfer to the hotel for check-in and enjoy the remainder of the evening at leisure. You may wish to explore Dali Ancient Town again in the evening, when the historic streets come alive with atmospheric lighting, local restaurants and shops.

Erhai also serves as one of Dali’s main sources of drinking water. In recent years, significant environmental protection efforts have been introduced, including the Erhai Lake Ecological Corridor, established to protect the lake from pollution and restore its natural ecosystem. Enjoy the peaceful lakeside scenery and take in the beautiful contrast between the blue waters of Erhai Lake and the majestic Cangshan Mountains.
Continue to Zhoucheng Village, the largest Bai ethnic village in Dali and widely known as the “Hometown of Bai Tie-Dye.” Located approximately 23 kilometres north of Dali Ancient Town, Zhoucheng is home to more than 8,000 Bai people and offers an excellent opportunity to experience traditional Bai culture and craftsmanship. The village is particularly famous for its traditional tie-dyeing technique, a craft that dates back to the late Ming and early Qing dynasties. Using woven or knitted fabrics, artisans carefully fold, tie and dye the material to create distinctive patterns and designs. The finished products are simple yet elegant, reflecting the creativity and cultural traditions of the Bai people. During the visit, observe the traditional dyeing process and browse the beautifully crafted textiles and handicrafts.
Continue to Xizhou, another charming Bai cultural town famous for its well-preserved traditional architecture and peaceful old streets. Take a leisurely walk along the slate-paved roads and winding lanes, where traditional Bai residences reveal intricate architectural details and decorative designs. Many of the houses are built around traditional Chinese rectangular courtyards, with distinctive screen walls facing the main entrance. These walls are often decorated with four-character Chinese inscriptions such as “Qingbai Shijia” (a family of integrity and purity) or “Ziqi Donglai” (auspicious energy comes from the east), surrounded by colourful landscape paintings and traditional decorative motifs.
