Visit Leopoldskron’s lakeside viewpoint and the iconic gazebo at Hellbrunn Palace. Located right beside the gazebo in Hellbrunn’s historic gate buildings—the Hunting Lodge, Coach House, and Zookeeper’s Lodge is a new Sound of Music museum. Inside this new multimedia museum. you will trace how the Broadway musical and Hollywood masterpiece were crafted, while uncovering the authentic history of the real von Trapp family who inspired it all.

Leaving Salzburg behind, journey south into the alpine beauty of Werfen to visit the legendary Sound of Music meadow on the Gschwandtanger plateau. Here, settle down across the alpine grasses for an Austrian picnic —all while taking in panoramic vistas across the Salzach Valley.

As the daytime visitors depart, enjoy a quieter evening in the village and dinner overlooking the water.

Depart Hallstatt at around 8am for the journey to Innsbruck, allowing approximately 3½ to 4 hours of driving.
Spend around 2½ to 3 hours in the city, with time for lunch and a private Old Town walk. Discover the Golden Roof, Maria Theresien Strasse and the riverside before continuing to Munich, approximately 2 to 2½ hours away.
This is the longest travelling day of the journey. Allow around 9 to 11 hours in total, including sightseeing, breaks and traffic.
