The film has inspired growing interest in the region, particularly among overseas Teochew communities keen to reconnect with their ancestral roots.

From historic temples, ancient streets and traditional architecture to authentic local experiences, this itinerary offers an immersive introduction to one of southern China’s most culturally distinctive regions.

Explore the historic charm of Chaozhou, including Han Wen Gong Temple, Guangji Bridge, Paifang Street and Kaiyuan Temple, while experiencing traditional Kung Fu Tea, Chao Opera, Chao Embroidery and woodcarving. 

Continue to Raoping and Shantou, experiencing Hakka heritage and the distinctive character of this coastal city. In Shantou, explore the Xiaogongyuan Historical District, a charming historic area famously featured as a filming location for the movie Dear You.

The journey also takes you to Jieyang and Chenghai, where you will experience traditional architecture, local customs and vibrant cultural performances, including the famous Yingge Dance. Complete your adventure with a scenic escape to Nan’ao Island, crossing the spectacular Nan’ao Bridge and enjoying the island’s coastal scenery, Qing'ao Bay and Rainbow Sea.

Guangzhou - Chaozhou

Arrive in Guangzhou on your own flight. Upon arrival, your private guide will meet you at the airport and assist with your transfer to Guangzhou Railway Station.

From the railway station, board a First Class high-speed G train to Chaoshan, with a journey of approximately 2.5–3 hours. The First Class train ticket is included in the tour package. 

Upon arrival at Chaoshan Railway Station, you will be welcomed by the local guide and transferred by private vehicle to Chaozhou. The journey provides your first introduction to the Chaoshan region and its distinctive local culture.

After arriving in Chaozhou, check in to your 4-star hotel and take some time to rest after the journey. The remainder of the evening is free at leisure, allowing you to relax or explore the surroundings at your own pace.

For dinner, you may enjoy local Chaozhou cuisine at your own expense, offering an opportunity to begin discovering the region's renowned food culture.

fter breakfast at the hotel, begin a full-day exploration of Chaozhou, discovering the city’s rich history, traditional architecture, and distinctive Chaoshan culture.

Start with a visit to Han Wen Gong Temple, a historic cultural site dedicated to Han Yu, the renowned Tang Dynasty scholar and poet. Continue to the iconic Xiangzi Bridge (Guangji Bridge), where you can enjoy panoramic views and appreciate one of Chaozhou’s most famous landmarks.

Next, explore the atmospheric Ancient City of Chaozhou, including a leisurely stroll along Paifang Street, known for its traditional streetscape and local character. Visit Kaiyuan Temple, an important historical and cultural landmark, before continuing your exploration of the old city.

In the afternoon, immerse yourself in the traditions of Chaoshan through a series of cultural experiences. Learn about the art of Kung Fu Tea brewing, discover the distinctive performance style of Chao Opera, and experience the craftsmanship behind Chao Embroidery and traditional woodcarving.

After the day's sightseeing and cultural activities, return to your hotel and enjoy the evening at leisure.

Chaozhou – Raoping – Shantoup

After breakfast, check out from your hotel and travel by private vehicle from Chaozhou to Raoping, continuing onward to Shantou. This full-day journey combines historical heritage, traditional village culture, and Shantou’s unique urban character. 

Begin your day in Raoping with a visit to Daoyun Tower, a historic site showcasing the area’s architectural and cultural heritage. Continue to a traditional Hakka village, where you can experience the atmosphere of a traditional community and gain an insight into the local Hakka heritage.

In the afternoon, continue to Shantou and explore the Xiaogongyuan Historical District, one of the city’s atmospheric historic areas. The district is also known as a filming location for the movie Dear You, making this a particularly interesting stop for movie enthusiasts and photography lovers. 

Take time to stroll through the historic surroundings, appreciate the traditional architecture, and capture photographs before continuing to your hotel in downtown Shantou.

After checking in, enjoy the remainder of the evening at leisure. You may choose to explore the surrounding area independently or relax at the hotel

Shantou – Jieyang – Shantou

After breakfast, begin a full-day excursion from Shantou to Jieyang, exploring the city’s historic landmarks and cultural heritage. Travel comfortably by private air-conditioned vehicle with your guide. 

Your first stop is Jieyang Tower, an impressive landmark that reflects the history and character of Jieyang. Continue to the Jieyang Confucian Temple (Xuegong), an important cultural and historical site associated with traditional Chinese education and Confucian heritage.

Next, visit Jinxianmen Gate, one of Jieyang’s notable historic landmarks. Take some time to appreciate the traditional architecture and atmosphere before continuing your exploration of the city.

In the afternoon, enjoy free time along Longyan South Road, where you can browse local shops, explore the surrounding streets, and shop for local products at your own pace.

After the visit, return by private vehicle to Shantou and check in or relax at your hotel. The evening is free for leisure.

Shantou – Chenghai – Shantou

After breakfast, depart from Shantou by private vehicle for a full-day exploration of Chenghai, combining historic architecture, traditional performing arts, religious heritage, and local culture. 

Begin with a visit to the magnificent Chen Cihong Former Residence, a remarkable historical residence that offers an insight into the region’s heritage and traditional architecture.

A special highlight of the morning is the opportunity to witness a traditional Yingge Dance performance at 10:40 AM. This energetic folk performance is an important part of Chaoshan cultural traditions and adds a lively cultural experience to the day's itinerary. 

For lunch, you may wish to try a local roast goose banquet, a recommended local dining experience. Lunch is at your own expense. In the afternoon, continue to Mayu Island, where you can visit the Mazu Temple and learn more about the local tradition of Mazu worship. Continue to the Chaoshan History Museum for a deeper look at the region’s history and cultural development.

After completing the day's sightseeing, return by private vehicle to Shantou and enjoy the evening at leisure.

Shantou – Nan’ao Island – Shantou

After breakfast, depart from Shantou by private vehicle for a full-day excursion to the beautiful Nan’ao Island, one of the scenic highlights of the Chaoshan region. Begin the day by crossing the spectacular Nan’ao Cross-Sea Bridge, enjoying views of the surrounding coastline as you make your way onto the island.

Continue to the General’s Office (Zongbing Fu), a historical site offering an insight into Nan’ao’s past and maritime heritage. Afterwards, visit the Tropic of Cancer Marker Tower, an interesting landmark associated with the geographical significance of the island.

After lunch, enjoy some free time at Qingao Bay Beach. Relax by the coast, take in the sea views, or simply enjoy the peaceful island atmosphere at your own pace. On the return journey to Shantou, stop to admire the scenic Rainbow Sea oyster farming base, where you can appreciate the coastal landscape and local oyster-farming activities.

Return to your hotel in Shantou after the day's exploration and enjoy the evening at leisure.

Shantou – Guangzhou

After breakfast, check out from your hotel in Shantou and transfer to Chaoshan Railway Station for your return journey to Guangzhou.

Board a First Class high-speed G train from Chaoshan to Guangzhou, enjoying a comfortable journey as you make your way back towards Guangzhou. The First Class train ticket is included in the tour package. 

Upon arrival in Guangzhou, your guide will meet you and escort you to Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport for your onward flight back to your home.
