Fitness Level Required

The Bumdra Trek requires a moderate level of fitness and is suitable for most active travellers.

Expect 4 to 6 hours of hiking on mountain trails, with some steep uphill sections and elevations reaching approximately 4,000 metres. No trekking experience is required, but you should be comfortable walking for several hours on uneven terrain.

Today begins your trekking adventure.

Drive to the trailhead before ascending through pine forests, rhododendron groves, and high mountain landscapes. Along the route, enjoy spectacular views across Paro Valley and the surrounding Himalayan peaks.

Arrive at Bumdra Monastery, dramatically positioned on a mountain ridge overlooking the valleys below. Explore the monastery and surrounding sacred caves before settling into camp.

As evening falls, enjoy one of the most memorable experiences in Bhutan, watching the sunset over the mountains before spending the night under the stars.

Bumdra to Tiger's Nest Monastery

Wake early to witness sunrise across the Himalayas.

After breakfast, continue the trek along scenic ridgelines before beginning your descent towards Taktsang Monastery, famously known as Tiger's Nest. Approaching Bhutan's most sacred monastery from above provides a unique perspective rarely experienced by day visitors.

Spend time exploring the monastery and learning about its spiritual significance before descending to the valley floor.
